Paul, a 3-year member, recalls being on-course alongside Patterson Ave with his Dad, watching his neighbour win the Melbourne Cup onboard Gala Supreme in 1973. Now, he’s hoping his tips can land a winner too.

Plenty of recent winning form to line up in this competitive affair. DARK SIMBA (2) certainly fits that mould having won three in a row in fine fashion, sitting on a hot speed at Sale before coming right away at Mornington. Maps for every chance again here and will take plenty of beating. TAKEN (1) has also won three in a row having been well placed down in the weights to do so. Up to 60kg now but did win dominantly last time and looks a big chance once more. KISS MY ROCK (13) was good behind Taken last start and now meets that horse a whopping 9.5kg better at the weights. Taken has improved again since but Kiss My Rock has strong each way claims at odds. BRING FORTH (6) only won his maiden narrowly at Bendigo but did start $1.40 and there were gaps back through the field. Can measure up. FROM A DISTANCE (8) is another progressive horse who hit the line well last time.
