Expert Analysis

PERSAN (1) broke the drought last time. Given his chance back in easier and took it nicely. Travelled well and looked to win it with plenty in hand at the finish. No issues at the trip but this is a tougher test with more depth added through both SOUND (2) and REGAL LION (3). Persan and Sound ran 1-2 in the Bart Cummings back in 2020. The ledger in three meetings in 2022 reads 2-1 to Persan and he deserves to edge the betting here but the trip is a big plus for Sound and the inside draw means he can get a cheap run after doing it tough at Pakenham. There he was behind NOBEL HEIGHTS (6) who gave Persan a big of a race here last time and will keep the better horses honest again.
