FIRST SETTLER (4) won his first two starts in solid fashion before resuming off a short break and giving Growing Empire a race. Ultimately that horse proved too classy and has since gone within half a head of winning a G1 Manikato Stakes. Should go close. RESERVE BANK (7) has done nothing wrong in two wins to date. He'll need to improve again but looks capable of doing so. BODYGUARD (2) resumes off a 6.3 length trial win. He was good against some of the best 2yos last season and must be respected. TARPAULIN (5) was poor in the Rosebud last time behind Gatsby's but has ability and can bounce back. BITTERCREEK (1) is a very nice colt who brings the Broadsiding form. Fancy 1100m is on the sharp side, but he's plenty talented.
