Competitive race for the new season three-year-olds to kick things off. EXIT (4) had been well backed in the G2 Blue Diamond Prelude on debut, struggling there but confirming the suspicions of ability with a smart win first up at Sandown Hillside over 1300m. Shinn sticks from the soft draw and she looks capable of going right on with it. CROSSBOW (2) has been strong to the line in two runs back this preparation in Sydney, missing a smart one narrowly at Randwick last time out. Likely goes back from the draw but shouldn't be far away in the small field and will be hard to hold out. OUR CHIEF (3) was good behind a smart one on debut, relishing the rise in trip at Geelong to score dominantly. Rolls forward for Lane and measures up. HILLIER (1) resumes with a tidy maiden win at short odds and looks open to improvement. REDDERS (5) controlled things and won well at Geelong although will need to improve.
