Liked the last start Sale maiden win of SCARY (5). He didn't beat much but ripped home in some big late splits and put a good margin on them over 1732m. There isn't much difference between maiden and Listed grade for these 3yo Derby hopefuls. SERGEANT MAJOR (2) was great fresh in the McKenzie Stakes before struggling in the Guineas Prelude. Now up in trip, he'll improve sharply. LAVALIER (4) was well backed to win the Derby Trial here and was okay in fifth. Has the run under the belt and can be better for it. GIDDY UP WARRIOR (3) was also good in the Derby Trial and has some claims. KEENELAND (6) looks an improving type.

Second-up 8th of 11 at Caulfield in the G3 Gneas Prel on September 21 over 1400m, 4.5 len behind Angel Capital with 56kg at $6.50. Gets up in trip now which will suit greatly.
At the latest run tracked the speed and boxed on steadily 4th of 13 at this track 3yo C&G-Swp on September 22 over 1800m, 2 len behind Stylish Secret with 57kg at $5. The start before that ran on from midfield and won by 0.5 len at Sandown-Hillside 3yo Mdn-Sw September 4 over 1500m defeating Brullen carrying 58kg at $2.30. Solid each way claims.
Useful type. Last start 5th of 13 at this track 3yo C&G-Swp on September 22 over 1800m, 2 len behind Stylish Secret with 56kg at $3.30. The start before that 3rd of 9 at Moonee Valley 3yo Hcp on August 24 over 1523m, slow going 3 len behind Evaporate with 59.5kg at $5. Has the right platform to go close in this.

The start before that 2nd in a small field at Geelong 3yo Mdn-Sw on September 1 over 1733m, 0.5 len behind King's Coronation with 58kg at $3.80. Dominant there and has more to offer.
Recent form sound. Last start favourite; raced right near the speed and boxed on; won by 3 len at Benalla Mdn-Sw September 27 over 1606m defeating El Paso with 57kg at $1.70. The start before that held ground to the line 2nd of 10 at Benalla Mdn-Sw on September 3 over 1612m, nose behind Thunder Force with 57kg at $2.60. Harder here but looks to have good staying ability.
