Pre-race favourite She's Extreme duly saluted in the $1m Kennedy Oaks to give trainer Anthony Cummings and jockey Tommy Berry deserved Group 1 success.

A clever steer by Tommy Berry to take the rails run on She’s Extreme on entering the straight proved to be the right move as the classy filly outgunned race leader Pavitra and Queen Air to take victory in today’s feature. It was back-to-back Oaks victories for the Cummings family after Anthony’s son James took the honours last year with Willowy.

While the wet weather relented for day three of the Carnival, racegoers were treated to some sizzling performances on the track. James McDonald and the Maher-Eustace camp were again back in the Winner’s Enclosure as Matron Bullwinkel kicked the day off with a surging victory in the first. McDonald continued his Carnival hot streak with a hattrick of wins across the card but not before he picked up an eight-meeting suspension for careless riding in the third when he steered Roots to victory. The ban will see McDonald out of action for just over a week beginning straight after the TAB Champions Day this Saturday.
