AZTEC STATE (2) narrowly gets the nod. He won well on debut beating a subsequent dominant maiden winner before a sound effort when hard in the market at Caulfield. Should be suited at this trip and has more upside than most. BINOTTO (3) looked a real Derby type early on but comes here with a gap between runs. His form around Gates and Konasana reads well and he should relish getting to 1800m. QUEEN OF DRAGONS (10) comes down from Sydney with strong form. She's been outclassed at her past two but should find this a touch easier and can figure. SAVATOFF (6) was far too good at $1.80 to break his maiden at Bendigo and can go on with it. NATURAL DEDUCTION (4) will have no issue with 1800m off a smart maiden win at Newcastle.

Last start 3rd of 9 at Caulfield 3yo Bm70 on October 18 over 1600m, 1.0 len behind Mojave Desert carrying 56.5kg at $3.50. Lightly raced and should prove tough to beat.

The start before that 2nd of 10 at Sandown-Hillside 3yo Mdn-Sw on September 20 over 1500m, 0.8 len behind Gates with 58kg at $4. Coming through some strong races and will relish 1800m.

Second run from a spell won by 0.5 len at Newcastle Mdn-Sw October 17 over 1600m defeating Incessant with 56.5kg at $11. Impressive win last start and is in the mix again.
