Celine Moody, a star player in the AFLW and daughter of renowned Black Caviar trainer Peter Moody, found herself thoroughly impressed by Imperatriz, the favourite for the Black Caviar Lightning, during their recent photo shoot.

While Celine Moody and her twin sister Breanna celebrated their 11th birthdays in 2008, their dad Peter was making a pivotal decision. He was attending the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, where he was drawn to a filly closely related to a well-known sprinter, Lightning Stakes placegetter Magnus, from a mare that was out of another Lightning Stakes placegetter in Scandinavia. Determined to secure her, he partnered with Neil Werrett to purchase her for $210,000. Little did the twins know while they celebrated that day that their dad had purchased what some call the horse of a lifetime, Black Caviar.

The mare’s record in Australian racing is well-known and celebrated. None more so by the Moody family, so for Celine, attending Black Caviar Race Day is always a priority. “It’s such an honour having a race named after Black Caviar. She was such a special horse and did so much for the industry. It’s really cool to come together on this race day.”

This year she is enamoured with another mare – Imperatriz – with whom she enjoyed a photo shoot with earlier this week at Cranbourne. Describing the Black Caviar Lightning favourite as “a cool customer and very calm”, Celine can’t wait to see what she does on Saturday.

“I hope she [Imperatriz] can get it done. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Off the track, Celine also looks forward to the “great racing, great food and great atmosphere” that’s always a staple on a feature race day such as Black Caviar Race Day.
